Osteopathy – A Quick Fix? (is it possible?)
Welcome to another Baks Osteopathy Blog where I wanted to talk about one of the many myths that surround Osteopathy.
The first is the belief that Osteopathy is a quick fix – so, is it?
Is a quick fix possible?
Most of the time, a quick resolution to minor aches and pains in younger people is possible within a few sessions.
This person (normally under 40 years old) wouldn’t have any addictions, such as smoking/drinking, overeating etc or chronic illness.
That’s because young people who are healthy are generally more supple and easier to adjust. This helps with the healing process – so best to stay healthy!
Is a quick fix possible in the over 40’s?
Yes – relatively speaking, it is. Generally speaking older people tend to be less flexible and less active. This is of course variable, with there being many active people who are very healthy and above 40.
If you’re a fit and healthy 40 plus person then you should have good results within 4 to 6 sessions. This will largely depend upon whether there is any Osteoarthritis, disc disease and other age related complications.
All pain is relative
Don’t forget that all pain is relative and what feels painful to one person may not feel painful to another. Also, stress levels can play a part in elevating your pain via a number of pathways. We can help identify all likely root causes of your symptoms and either treat or refer you if necessary.
